CARLISLE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (7-8, 2-8 CC) was defeated on the road at Dickinson (10-4, 7-2 CC), 62-38, in Wednesday evening's Centennial Conference (CC) contest. A slow first half put F&M in a hole early as they were outscored 31-12 after 20 minutes of play.
After Dickinson grabbed an early 5-0 lead,
Hope Schreiber knocked down a pair of free throws and
Jaclyn Feit converted an and-one opportunity to even the score. From that point, Dickinson scored the next seven points of the game to improve its lead, 12-5. The run was finally ended on a layup from
Steph Sexton to reduce the deficit. However, Dickinson would still maintain a 15-8 lead after one quarter.
The Diplomats struggled mightily in the second quarter as the Red Devils scored 16-straight points to take a 31-8 advantage. A layup from Feit and a pair of free throws from
Kayla McCrea would be the only points of the quarter from F&M as the game entered halftime.
Despite a rough first half from the field, F&M shot 32 percent in the second half to improve its percentage for the game. The second half also saw the Diplomats' only two three-pointers of the contest as Sexton went 2-for-2 from beyond the arc.
Feit led the Diplomats with 14 points and seven rebounds in the game. Defensively, Schreiber and Sexton swiped two steals each.
Franklin & Marshall looks to get back in the win column when it returns to the Mayser Center to host Haverford Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
