Women's Basketball Outlasts Haverford, 52-47

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (8-8, 3-8 CC) claimed a hard-fought, 52-47, victory over Haverford (6-10, 3-8 CC) in Saturday afternoon's Centennial Conference (CC) game at the Mayser Center.

Tied at 14-all with 5:38 in the second quarter, Jaclyn Feit drained a three-pointer and drew a foul to earn a trip to the charity stripe - putting F&M ahead 18-14. After Haverford knocked down a jumper, Ally Trebelev matched with a pair of free throws at the other end. Quinn Galligan followed with a mid-range bucket to give the Diplomats a 22-16 lead entering halftime.

Trebelev connected on a three-pointer to begin the second half, but the Fords responded with a six-point swing to reduce F&M's lead to 25-22 with 6:03 remaining in the quarter. With the Diplomats holding a 28-24 lead with under five minutes left in the quarter, F&M began a 10-3 run that was capped with a jumper from Kayla McCrea in the final minute. The Fords added two at the free throw line to trail the Diplomats 38-29 after three quarters.

F&M extended its lead to 11 as Lizzie Neville went 2-for-2 at the free throw line just two minutes in the final frame. However, Haverford scored seven-straight points to get the Fords within four with under five minutes to play. F&M responded with a jump shot from McCrea and a converted and-one from Neville to push the hosts' advantage to 47-38 with 2:30 left in regulation. Haverford didn't back down as it drilled threes on back-to-back possessions to get within three in the final minute. F&M kept composed and went 5-for-6 from the charity stripe to hold off the Fords.

As a team, F&M ended the game shooting 90 percent (18-for-20) at the free throw line in the win.

Feit ended the contest with 16 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks. Trebelev finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds to claim her second-career double-double. Neville also tallied double-digit scoring figures with 10 points, while also collecting three steals in the victory.

F&M returns to the Mayser Center on Tuesday to host Gettysburg, a team receiving votes in the national polls. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
