LANCASTER, Pa. - With all five starters entering double-figures in scoring on the afternoon, the Franklin & Marshall Men's Basketball team dominated Haverford 75-46. The win marked the third straight season-series sweep of the Fords.
A game in which the Diplomats never trailed, F&M and Haverford began the contest trading buckets, with the Diplomats holding a 10-9 edge after the first six minutes. However, F&M began to create separation after a 5-0 run over the next minute gave the Diplomats a six-point advantage.
Following a Gabriel Franklin layup on the other end, F&M outscored the Fords 8-2 to go up by 10 with just over nine minutes remaining. With Haverford shooting 1-of-8 over the next five minutes, the Diplomats grew their lead to 18 by the four-minute mark of the half. Staying in front by double-digits for the rest of the frame, F&M went into the break with a 35-22 advantage.
In the second half, the deficit remained above 13 for the entirety of the period as the Diplomats extended the gap to 20 inside of the 14-minute mark. Later leading 55-37 with less than eight minutes remaining in the tilt, F&M went on a 19-6 run to take a 31-point lead with just over one minute remaining. It was the team's largest lead of the afternoon, who went on to close out its 14th win of the season.
Josh Parra and
Omar Nichols finished tied for the team-high in points with 15 each. Parra was also tied with
Vakaris Grauslys in rebounding with seven each. Defensively, the Diplomats held the Fords to 8-of-33 shooting in the second half, and allowed just five three-pointers made all game.
Staying at home for its upcoming game, F&M will welcome Gettysburg to the Mayser Center on Thursday, January 25 at 7:30 p.m.
