Men's Basketball Sweeps Season Series Against Gettysburg

LANCASTER, Pa. - Behind 51 combined points from Vakaris Grauslys and Josh Parra, the Franklin & Marshall Men's Basketball team knocked off Gettysburg 81-76. The win completed the first season-series sweep of the Bullets since the 2017-18 campaign.

With Gettysburg making six of its first seven shots from the floor, the Bullets raced out to a 13-4 lead within the first four minutes of the game. After the Diplomats drilled back-to-back three pointers to make it a one-possession game, Gettysburg answered with a pair of layups on the other end to stay up by seven at the 14-minute mark. Later trailing 26-19, F&M used a 10-4 run to cut the deficit to one with less than seven minutes til halftime. Four minutes later, Kevin Nowoswiat hit a game-tying layup to spark an 8-2 run to close out the final three minutes of the half.

Leading 39-35 to begin the second frame, the Diplomats saw their lead evaporate in the first four minutes as the Bullets came back to even the score 45-45. Moments later, Gettysburg took a brief 47-46 edge, but F&M jumped right back on top with six unanswered points and led for the remainder of the night. Though the score saw one more tie at 52-52, a Grauslys three-pointer quickly gave the Diplomats the upper-hand again. Holding a 61-60 lead three minutes later, F&M exploded for a 10-1 run for its first double-digit lead of the night, but was followed up by a 10-2 Gettysburg run to put the Bullets within four with less than two minutes left to go in the game. With Grauslys making three trips to the charity stripe during the remainder of the night, the sophomore hit all six of his attempts to push the Diplomats across the finish line.

In addition to his career-high 29 points, Grauslys recorded a team-high four assists. Parra tallied a team-best five rebounds. As a team, F&M committed its fewest turnovers of the season with just six giveaways on the night.

The Diplomats will next travel to McDaniel to take on the Green Terror on Saturday, January 27 at 4 p.m.
