No. 9 Men's Soccer Starts Fast in 4-2 Win at Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The No. 9 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (7-0-6, 5-0-0 CC) overpowered Muhlenberg (7-3-3, 2-1-2 CC), 4-2, in a high-scoring Centennial Conference (CC) matchup Saturday evening at Varsity Field. The Diplomats attacked the Mules' net early and often with all four of their goals being scored in the first half of play.

Jack Borden got the scoring started in the 22nd minute as he tucked a free kick into the bottom-right corner of the net for his third goal of the season. The Mules responded with a score of their own just two minutes later to tie the game at 1-1. The tie didn't last long, however, as Koa Kaliebe buried his sixth goal of the season and fourth goal in three games during the 26th minute to reclaim the lead for the Diplomats.

Franklin & Marshall added insurance in the 42nd minute as Thomas Kaplan scrambled to a loose ball in the box and fired it past the Mules' goalkeeper for his third goal of the year. Two minutes later, Wes Wise found Sean Lipschutz in stride for Lipschutz to send his shot past the goalkeeper and extend the lead to 4-1. Lipschutz registered his second goal of the season on the play, while Wise was credited with his second assist of the year.

F&M outshot Muhlenberg, 15-13, with nine shots on goal for the visitors in the contest. Borden and Adam Green led the Diplomats in shots with three each in the win. In net, Nolan Booth made four saves to deny the Mules of making a comeback.

No. 9 Franklin & Marshall now heads to Baltimore on Saturday for a top-25 matchup against No. 22 Johns Hopkins, starting at 5:00 p.m.
