BALTIMORE, Md. – The No. 13 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (7-1-6, 5-1 CC) suffered its first loss of the season on the road at Johns Hopkins (8-3-3, 4-1-1 CC), 2-1, in Saturday evening's Centennial Conference (CC) contest. Johns Hopkins, a team receiving votes in the national poll, scored the game-winning goal in the 74th minute to stun the Diplomats under the lights at Homewood Field.
Johns Hopkins scored the first goal of the game in the 17th minute as the Blue Jays got behind the Diplomats' defense to bury a shot into the open net - breaking the scoreless tie. 20 minutes later, F&M's offensive pressure proved to be successful as the Blue Jays were denied a clearing attempt.
Adam Green controlled the loose ball just outside the box and fired a shot into the bottom-left corner of the net to tie the game at 1-1. With the score, Green improved his goal-tally to three, so far this season.
Franklin & Marshall had its chances on offense with 23 total shots and 10 shots on net. F&M also had 11 corner kicks and held the Blue Jays to just two in the contest.
Koa Kaliebe led the Diplomats with six shots, while
Jack Borden closely followed with five in the match.
Franklin & Marshall turns its attention to another tough matchup when it hosts No. 6 Dickinson on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
