LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (0-1) was defeated by Bucknell (1-0), 6-1, in the Diplomats' fall finale Saturday afternoon at the Brooks Tennis Center.
The Diplomats fell in two of the three doubles matches, but earned a victory in the middle match to avoid the sweep. The pairing of
Sahara Ahmad and
Natalie Untermeyer claimed a 6-2 victory for their first win of the season.
F&M got on the scoreboard with a win in the No. 3 singles match as
Mackenzie Sherman defeated her opponent in three sets. After dropping the first set, 6-3, Sherman fought back with wins in straight sets, 6-3, 1(10)-0(3). Sahara Ahmed battled in the No. 2 match to force a third set, but fell 1(10)-0(4).
Franklin & Marshall looks forward to an exciting spring season when it returns to Brooks Tennis Center on Saturday, February 22 – hosting Johns Hopkins at noon.
