LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall field hockey team scored a season-high six goals during a 6-2 Centennial Conference victory versus Dickinson on Wednesday afternoon. The Diplomats (5-4, 2-0 CC) remained undefeated in conference play with the victory.
Those six goals marked the team's best offensive performance since scoring six times at Elizabethtown during the 2019 season. It was also the team's most goals scored in a conference matchup since the 2018 meeting with Washington College. F&M also registered its third six-goal performance versus the Red Devils in program history, matching six goal outbursts during the 2004 regular season and Centennial Conference Tournament against Dickinson.
Hannah Fitzgerald opened the scoring with just under two minutes to play in the first quarter when she recorded her first of two goals on an assist from Keira Boensch. That would start a stretch of three goals in less than 10 minutes as Jessica Miller added her team-leading fifth goal of the season before Fitzgerald registered the first multi-goal game of her career during the 23rd minute of game action.
The scoring outburst continued into the final minutes of the half as Caitlin Hoover and Caroline Krisko made it 5-1 during the 28th and 30th minutes of game action. Hoover's goal was set up by Boensch's second assist of the afternoon as Boensch is now tied for the team lead in that category. Hoover is tied for second on the team in scoring following her third goal of the season. After scoring her first career goal in game-winning fashion on Saturday, Krisko is now one of six multi-goal scorers this season for Franklin & Marshall with goals in back-to-back contests.
F&M's final goal of the afternoon was also the first of Bella Konchar's career as the first-year scored in her fourth collegiate appearance to set the score at a 6-2 final. She became the ninth Diplomat this season to score a goal after her tally on Wednesday.
The Diplomats were very efficient in their shooting as they put 14 of their 16 shots on goal for the game and scored on nearly half of those attempts on goal. The Diplomats additionally held a 7-5 edge in penalty corners. Meghan Dole got the start in goal and made three saves during her 45 minutes in the cage before Jorja Pastore made two more saves during the fourth quarter of her team's victory.
Field hockey will be back at home this Saturday when the Diplomats host No. 10 Bryn Mawr on Tylus Field in a 12 p.m. start. That contest will also serve as Senior Day for the eight members of F&M's Class of 2025: Abby D'Anjolell, Riley Klopp, Grace Fass, Jessica Miller, Alison McCarey, Annie Malatesta, Sydney Kuehn, and Jorja Pastore.
