Women's Basketball Stifles Lancaster Bible, 64-51

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (4-1) came away with a 64-51 victory over Lancaster Bible (3-2) in Saturday afternoon's non-conference game to start the Terry Greene Tip-Off Tournament. F&M pulled away from the Chargers in the second half with the Diplomats shooting 51.4 percent (18-of-35) from the field in the final 20 minutes.

Leading 23-20 at halftime, F&M began a 14-2 run to start the third quarter. Kennedy Wilburn and Lauren Rusas both converted layups before the Chargers responded with one of their own to give the Diplomats a 27-22 lead. Ally Trebelev chipped in two before Quinn Galligan and Wilburn both made jumpers to extend the lead to 33-22 with 6:28 left in the quarter. Galligan knocked down a pair of free throws, followed by a jumper from Gia Sioutis gave F&M a 15-point lead before LBC ended the run. The Diplomats led by 13 when LBC scored six-unanswered points to reduce the F&M advantage to 43-36 entering the final quarter.

Lancaster Bible cut the deficit to eight with 4:29 remaining in regulation, but F&M continued to hold off the Chargers as Kayla McCrea splashed a three-pointer to extend the lead to 55-44. Both teams traded baskets with Lizzie Neville making a layup to put the Diplomats ahead by 13. A three-pointer by Neville and a layup from Galligan gave F&M its largest lead of the night at 16 points with 1:29 remaining in the game.

Franklin & Marshall had four players finish with double-digit point totals, led by Neville and Wilburn each recording 12 points. Neville also had six steals, while Wilburn grabbed four in the win. Trebelev ended her night with 11 points and seven rebounds. Galligan tallied 10 points with six assists in the contest. Rusas registered in eight points, eight rebounds and two blocks in the victory.

As a team, F&M shot 38.6 percent (27-of-70) from the field and forced LBC to turn the ball over 22 times in the win.

Franklin & Marshall gets set to face Alvernia in the Terry Greene Tip-Off Tournament Championship on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
