GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Opening its Centennial Conference Championship campaign on Thursday night, the Franklin & Marshall Women's Swimming team competed in a pair of relay events in the first session.
In the "A" final of the 200-yard medley relay, the quartet of
Rachel Baker,
Sophie Moyer,
Caitlin Barr and
Helen Lahmann-Metcalfe registered a third place finish with a school-record time of 1:45.77. Their time beat out the previous record by 0.15 seconds, which was previously set last season. The team of
Sophie Bergstrom,
Catherine Crampton,
Jennifer Leigh and
Erin Suter also finished in third of the "B" final with a time of 1:48.27.
Ending the night with the 800-yard freestyle relay, both the "A" and "B" teams for the Diplomats came in fourth of their respective finals. While
Matti Harvey,
Caitlin Barr,
Georgia May and
Catherine Crampton notched a time of 7:48.71,
Kate Posner,
Kathy Peitz-Diaz,
Maggie Sjostedt and
Maddie Mealey tallied a time of 8:05.92.
F&M will continue its bid for a conference title tomorrow, beginning with the morning session at 10 a.m.
