GETTYSBURG, Pa. - In what was a strong opening session for the Franklin & Marshall Men's Swimming Team, the Diplomats were positioned in second place of the Centennial Conference Championship standings after Thursday night.
F&M first claimed second place in the "A" final of the 200-yard medley relay, with the team of
Sean Conley,
Ben Lockey,
Evan Willertz and
John Devaney finishing with a time of 1:30.97. In the "B" final of the event, Matthew Hopkins,
Patrick Rooney,
Tim Turnbull and
Thomas Smolinski topped the race with a time of 1:32.08.
The session was then highlighted by the "A" final of the 800-yard freestyle relay, in which
Sam Kamdin, Conley,
Matt Hurford and
Henry Tavens set a school, conference, and pool record of 6:39.80.
Matthew Tilghman,
Joe Clarkson, Willertz and
Brady Saunders followed up the performance with a time of 6:56.90 to place third in the "B" final.Â
