GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Having completed the second and third sessions of the Centennial Conference Championships after Friday night, the Franklin & Marshall Men's Swimming team remained in second place of the team standings with 275 points.
Following the morning's preliminary races, the Diplomats had three qualifiers across the "A" and "B" finals of the 500-yard freestyle, including
Jack Rowe, who placed third in the "B" final with a time of 4:43.65.Â
In the 200-yard IM,
Sean Conley registered a third place finish in the "A" final with a time of 1:51.19, which tied the program record set by Tom Graminski in 2020.Â
F&M saw its most success in the 50-yard freestyle, in which
Matt Hurford topped the "A" final with a time of 20.33, which ranks third all-time in program history. In the "B" final,
Henry Tavens and
Matt Hopkins came in second and third, respectively, with the pair finishing within 0.01 seconds of each other. Tavens's time of 20.97 ranks eighth all-time in program history, while Hopkins's time of 20.98 ranks ninth all-time.Â
Ending the night with the 400-yard medley relay, the quartet of
Sam Kamdin,
Patrick Rooney,
Evan Willertz and
John Devaney notched a silver medal with a time of 3:20.65.
The Diplomats will now move on to the third day of the championships tomorrow, with the morning session scheduled for 10 a.m. and the night session set for 6 p.m.
