GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Closing out the final six events of the Centennial Conference Championships, the Franklin & Marshall Men's Swimming team placed third in the team standings with a total of 613 points.
Matt Tilghman began the night with a time of 16:17.36 in the 1650-yard freestyle, moving him up to third all-time in program history. In the same heat,
Jack Rowe posted a time of 16:26.42, good for 10th-best in program history.
In the 200-yard backstroke,
Sean Conley narrowly missed out on a program record, posting a time of 1:51.66, which fell 0.01 seconds short of the top performance in school history set by Alec Wahl.Â
Henry Tavens reached 10th all-time in program history in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.23. In the "B'" final of the event,
John Devaney topped the heat with a time of 45.82, vaulting him to fifth in program history.
Patrick Rooney reached the fourth best time in program history in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:05.85.Â
Ending the weekend with the 400-yard freestyle relay,
Matt Hurford,
Ben Lockey, Devaney and Tavens nabbed a silver medal with a time of 3:01.80. Additionally,
Evan Willertz,
Brady Saunders,
Thomas Smolinski and Conley placed second in the "B" final with a time of 3:06.44.Â
Overall, the Diplomats notched eight medals and set four program records over the course of the championships.Â
