Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men's Tennis Earns First Two Victories of 2024 Season

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team picked up its first two wins of the 2024 dual meet season with a 6-3 win against Ithaca and an 8-1 triumph over Mary Hardin-Baylor to begin the Diplomats week in Florida at the USTA National Campus. The Diplomats won five singles matches to overtake the Bombers during their first match of the day and were a perfect 6-0 in singles while handing the Crusaders their first defeat of the season.

Luke Brodsky, Samuel Donnelly, Gonzalo Gentou, Daniel Feigelson, and Pedro Norte were all a perfect 2-0 in singles play to pace the Diplomats' victories. Brodsky started his day with a 10-point tiebreak victory at No. 2 against Ithaca before moving up to No. 1 singles against the Crusaders where he claimed a straight set victory.

Donnelly, Gentou, and Norte were straight set winners during their undefeated day in singles. Gentou improved to a team-best 3-2 during dual meet competition this spring with his two victories on Monday. Norte blanked his opponent from Ithaca 6-0, 6-0 and allowed just three games total on the day in singles play. Donnelly's toughest set of the day came when he took a tiebreak during the opening set against UMBH before allowing just a single game in the second. Following a 6-0 first set against UMBH, Feigelson came away with a 10-point tiebreak win to aid in the 8-1 team victory.

The Diplomats found success with a number of different doubles pairings throughout the two matches. Franklin & Marshall took No. 3 doubles against Ithaca behind the pairing of Luke Brodsky and Campbell Gervais. Against UMBH, the Diplomats took each of the top two doubles matches behind the respective pairings of Zac Ashtiani/Anthony Casale and Dylan Maudsley/Pedro Norte.

Men's tennis will return to action in Orlando on Tuesday when they battle NESCAC foe Trinity (Conn.).
