Men's Tennis Drops Tough Battle to Connecticut College, 6-3

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team wrapped up its schedule in Florida with a thrilling back-and-forth match against Connecticut College. Playing competitive matches and tiebreaks during the majority of the singles and doubles action, it was the Camels who ultimately emerged with a 6-3 team victory.

Starting with singles, Luke Brodsky earned the win during one of the two early matches that went to a decisive third set. He rallied to win his second set at No. 1 singles by a 6-4 score before taking the 10-point tiebreak via a 10-7 final. Connecticut College got its own 10-point tiebreak win at No. 4 as Daniel Feigelson forced the deciding set with a 6-3 win in the second before a 10-8 tiebreak in favor of his opponent.

The Diplomats ended up winning both No. 1 and No. 2 singles as Zac Ashtiani won in straight sets by a 6-2, 6-4 score. Pedro Norte was also a straight set winner at No. 5 singles where he won 6-0, 6-2 as the Diplomats and Camels were tied at three-all with doubles being played after singles.

As the team score hung in the balance, doubles was a true battle as all three matches went to tiebreakers after the first 14 games of each of those matches were split with seven games to each side. In the end, all three doubles matches went in favor of Connecticut College who walked away with the 6-3 team victory.

The Diplomats will now have just over a week before they return to action on Saturday, March 23. That match will feature another trip south as Franklin & Marshall travels to Washington and Lee for a 9:30 a.m. start in Lexington, Virginia.
