LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team (7-7, 4-1 CC) slipped past Washington College (4-9, 1-3 CC), 5-4, in a thrilling Centennial Conference (CC) match held at the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center on Saturday.
Washington College jumped out to an early advantage as the Shoremen won both the first and third doubles' matches to begin the day. The pairing of
Luke Brodsky and
Campbell Gervais defeated their opponent, 8-4, to earn their eighth win together this season.
Coming down to the final singles' match of the day,
Soren Rudin-Aulenbach held off his opponent in the No. 6 position to put the Diplomats on top to win the match. The individual win was Rudin-Aulenbach's ninth singles' victory this year.
Pedro Norte claimed his 10th win of the season with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 5 position.
Zac Ashtiani (No. 2) and
Samuel Donnelly (No. 3) both earned their ninth win of the season in their respective matches. Ashtiani downed his opponent, 7(8)-6(6), 7-5, while Donnelly won his match, 6-3, 7-5.
Franklin & Marshall looks for its third win in a row when it travels to face Gettysburg on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
