LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (3-8, 1-1 CC) earned their first Centennial Conference (CC) win of the season with a 9-0 sweep over Muhlenberg (4-6, 0-3 CC) Wednesday afternoon at the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center.
In their first match together, the duo of
Jenna Harrison and
Sophia Rhazali claimed an 8-1victory in the first doubles match of the day. Also competing in their first match together, the pairing of
Lorena Saavedra and
Mackenzie Sherman blanked their opponent, 8-0, in the middle doubles match.
Kakie Colclough and
Presley Daggett rounded out the doubles' wins with an 8-0 victory for their seventh of the season.
Harrison (No. 1) and Sherman (No. 3) both claimed their first wins of the season in their respective matches. Harrison overpowered her opponent, 6-2, 6-1, while Sherman shutout her opponent, 6-0, 6-0. Rhazali (No. 2),
Rebecca Bellick (No. 4), and
Amelia Squires (No. 5) each claimed their fifth individual wins of the year. Rhazali won her match, 6-0, 6-2, followed by Bellick winning, 8-0. Squires then cruised past her opponent, 8-1. Finally,
Lorena Saavedra completed her sixth win of her rookie season with an 8-0 victory in the No. 6 position.
Franklin & Marshall gears up for a doubleheader on Saturday. The Diplomats host Salisbury at 10:00 a.m. before welcoming Bryn Mawr at 3:00 p.m.
