Women's Tennis Splits Saturday's Home Matches

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (4-9, 2-1 CC) hosted two matches at the Brooks Tennis Center on Saturday. The Diplomats defeated Centennial Conference (CC) foe Bryn Mawr (5-3, 0-2 CC), 7-2, before falling in its non-conference match against Salisbury, 7-2.

F&M's only doubles' victories of the day came in the win against Bryn Mawr as the Diplomats claimed the first and third matches. The pairing of Jenna Harrison and Sophia Rhazali earned their second win together this season, taking down their opponent, 8(15)-7(13). The duo of Kakie Colclough and Presley Daggett claimed an 8-2 victory in the third doubles match against the Owls for their eighth win of the year together.

Rebecca Bellick (No. 4) and Amelia Squires (No. 5) both recorded two wins on the day as both Diplomats improved to seven singles' victories so far this season. Lorena Saavedra also claimed her seventh win of the year as she defeated her opponent from Bryn Mawr, 6-1, 6-1. Rhazali downed the Owls in the No. 2 position, 6-2, 6-2 for her sixth individual win of the season. Mackenzie Sherman won a three-set battle in her match against Bryn Mawr. Competing in the No. 3 singles match, Sherman outlasted her opponent, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, for her second singles' win of the season.

Franklin & Marshall now hits the road for a conference match against Gettysburg on Tuesday, starting at 4:00 p.m.
