LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (9-11, 6-3 CC) punched its ticket to the semifinal round of the Centennial Conference (CC) Tournament with a 5-0 shutout victory over Gettysburg (13-7, 5-4 CC) Tuesday afternoon at the Brooks Tennis Center.
The Diplomats began the day sweeping through the doubles matches. The duo of
Sophia Rhazali and
Mackenzie Sherman earned their fifth win of the season in the No. 1 doubles match as they defeated their opponent, 8-4.
Kakie Colclough and
Presley Daggett downed their opponent in the No. 3 doubles match, 8-6, to claim their 13th win of the year. The pairing of
Lorena Saavedra and
Amelia Squires won the middle doubles match, 8-6, to pick up their ninth victory together this spring.
Squires cruised in the No. 5 singles match as she overpowered her opponent, 6-2, 6-1, for her 13th individual win of the year. Colclough completed the victory for the Diplomats as she defeated her opponent, 7-5, 6-0, in the No. 6 match for her eighth win of the season.
With the win, Franklin & Marshall advances to Centennial Conference Semifinals where it will face No. 6 Johns Hopkins on the road on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
