LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (2-0-4) used two second-half goals to power past Alvernia (4-2-1), 2-0, In Wednesday afternoon's non-conference game at Tylus Field.
Following a scoreless first half that saw the Diplomats out-shoot the Golden Wolves, 10-4, Franklin & Marshall raised the offensive pressure immediately out of the halftime break. In the 56th minute,
Oscar Horwitz received a pass from
Adam Green and buried into the left side of the cage for the first goal of the contest. Horwitz registered his first goal of the season and 29th-career goal on the play. Green was also credited with his second assist of the year.
In the 68th minute, F&M set up one of its six corner kicks of the day with
Koa Kaliebe sending in the crossing pass.
Thomas Kaplan sent a header inside the far post to add an insurance goal for the Diplomats. The goal was Kaplan's second of the season and the assist was Kaliebe's second of the year.
As a team, F&M peppered the Alvernia net with 25 total shots and nine shots on goal in the contest. Green, Kaliebe, and
Kole Wintersteen each registered four shot attempts in the win.
Nolan Booth was a force in net as he made five saves to pick up his third shutout of the season and 10th clean sheet of his career.
Franklin & Marshall looks to continue rolling as it begins Centennial Conference (CC) play on Saturday, hosting Haverford at 6:00 p.m.
