WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Franklin & Marshall men's track & field team returned to action in our nation's capital as the Diplomats competed at Catholic's Robert Comstock Cardinal Classic on Saturday afternoon. F&M's distance medley relay highlighted the day by turning in the 12th-fastest time in Division III this season.
The Diplomats' DMR - which consisted of Zach Houff, Holden Brown, Owen McCann, and Alex Miller - finished second overall in the meet with a time of 11:12.12. That time is the best in the Centennial Conference this season. It was also one of two high-performing relays as the Diplomats' DMR team of Elijiah Diaz, Habib Oberoi, Henry Clapper, and Andrew Li added a fourth-place showing (11:50.82) with another top 30 time nationally.
Several of the F&M relay standouts also shined in individual events. Miller was the team's top finisher in the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.39, while McCann led the team's efforts in the mile during a 12th-place showing (4:43.95). Other track leaders for the Diplomats included Justin Kolpan (7.29; 60 meters), Alex Olener (9.95; 60 hurdles), Adam Green (52.68; 400 meters), and Seamus Downey (9:36.27; 3,000 meters).
Franklin & Marshall's throwers highlighted the field events with three finishers in the top 11 of the weight throw. Will Bramley's third place finish (14.96 meters) headlined those efforts, with Ben Ford (13.05m), and Dustin Stoetzel (12.50m) also turning in impressive performances. Greg Bruno was the team's top pole vaulter as he cleared 3.20 meters to take 12th in the meet,
Men's track & field will return to its home facility in the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center next weekend as the Diplomats host the Coach I Invitational on Saturday, January 25. That will be the first of back-to-back home meets for the team that is also hosting the Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
