LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (3-9-2, 1-4-1 CC) fell to Johns Hopkins (4-6-5, 2-2-2 CC), 4-0, in Saturday afternoon's Centennial Conference (CC) contest at Tylus Field. The Blue Jays found the back of the net twice in each half to hand F&M its second loss in a row.
The Diplomats had three shots on target in the first half with
Thomas Kaplan firing two on net, while
Jack Baer recorded one shot on goal. With the early chances, Johns Hopkins' tough defense stood tall to keep F&M off the scoreboard.
F&M failed to generate a shot on goal in the final 45 minutes of play as the Blue Jays scored in both the 49th and 69th minute of the match. The Diplomats best chance of breaking into the scoring column came in the 84th minute as Kaplan had an open lane to fire a shot. However, his attempt sailed over the crossbar for a goal kick.
Johns Hopkins outshot Franklin & Marshall, 20-11, in the contest. The Diplomats were also limited to just one corner kick in the loss. Kaplan led the team with five shots, while Baer and
Michael Glennon fired two shots apiece.
Franklin & Marshall hits the road to face Ursinus on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
