GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's cross country team had three runners place in the top 10 at Gettysburg's Aubrey Shenk Invitational on Saturday morning. The Diplomats finished in sixth place overall among the field of 33 teams which included exactly 300 individual finishers. This week's race at Gettysburg – which saw F&M seven runners set personal bests at the 6,000 meter distance – served as preparation for the Centennial Conference Championship which will also be hosted by Gettysburg in two weeks.
Tara Silverman led the Diplomats to the finish line as she finished with a career-best time of 22:05.4 to place seventh in the field. The top three for F&M were all part of a tight grouping as Katie Scott (22:09.1) and Annalise Kauffman (22:13.6) also registered career best times at the 6K distance during their respective ninth and 10th place showings.
Jordyn Collie (24:19.1) and Georgia Hodgson (24:47.8) were F&M's final two scoring runners with 76th and 96th place finishes, respectively. The Diplomats sixth through ninth finishers at Gettysburg all set personal bests just two weeks before they compete at the conference championship. Hana Hyman broke the top 100 finishers with her PR in 24:48.5. Anna Atticks (24:58.4), Emily Jones (26:11.0), and Sophia Bloom (26:18.0) also had career best days. All 11 Diplomats competed in the race with Abby Bachman and Lucy Olsen crossing the line with respective times of 26:55.6 and 27:08.9.
With the regular season wrapping up today, the Diplomats will now turn their attention to the aforementioned Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday, November 1 with the women set for an 11 a.m. start.
