James Conway Named EIWA Wrestler of the Week

11/28/2025 11:11:00 AM

LANCASTER, Pa. – For the second time in his career, James Conway has been named the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) Wrestler of the Week. Conway earns the honor after becoming a two-time Keystone Classic Champion. He won his first EIWA weekly honor during the 2023-24 season after he became the Diplomats' first-ever Keystone Classic Champion.

Conway was the top seed at last week's Keystone Classic in a weight which featured three nationally-ranked wrestlers. F&M's senior captain started his day with a pair of decisions against Lock Haven and Central Michigan. The 2024 Elite 90 Award recipient punched his ticket to the finals with an 18-0 technical fall against fifth-seeded Luke Vanadia of Michigan State. In the final, Conway defeated No. 20 Jared McGill of Edinboro behind three takedowns as McGill's only points came on escapes.

Conway's perfect weekend improved his season record to 11-1, a mark that includes five technical falls, one pin, and one major decision. Not counting his redshirt season last year, Conway owns 84 career victories at F&M which moves him into seventh place on the all-time wins list. With his latest victories, Conway is ranked 11th among all Division I wrestlers at 184 lbs. according to Intermat and The College Wrestling Report. Conway is ranked 12th in the country this week by FloWrestling. He is joined in the rankings by fellow captain Mason Leiphart who is ranked 33rd by InterMat this week.

The Diplomats have off from competition during the week of Thanksgiving but will make their return to the mats with their first-ever appearance at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational (Dec. 5-6).
