SALISBURY, Md. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (5-4, 0-1 CC) worked its way back into the win column as it defeated Salisbury (9-4), 6-1, in Sunday afternoon's non-conference match. The Diplomats swept through the doubles matches before claiming wins in five of the six singles matches.
The duo of
Jenna Harrison and
Mackenzie Sherman defeated their opponent in the No. 1 doubles match, 6-3, for their third win together this season.
Sahara Ahmad and
Natalie Untermeyer held off their opponent in the No. 2 match, 6-4, to pick up their fifth win together this spring. The pairing of
Sophia Rhazali and
Amelia Squires completely the doubles' sweep as they overpowered their opponent in the No. 3 match, 6-1, for their fifth victory this year.
Untermeyer eased past her opponent, 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 4 singles match to earn her sixth individual win this season. Ahmad earned a 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 2 match to claim her fifth victory of the year. Sherman tallied her third individual win of the season as she cruised past her opponent, 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 3 match. Rhazali (No. 5) and
Rebecca Bellick (No. 6) earned the final two wins for F&M as both Diplomats improved to five wins this season. Rhazali outlasted her opponent, 6-4, 2-6, 1(11)-0(9), while Bellick rolled past her opponent, 6-1, 6-0.
Franklin & Marshall looks to build off the momentum as it hosts Gettysburg on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
