Women's Tennis Shuts Down Washington College, 7-0

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (8-5, 3-2 CC) earned its second sweep in a row as it blanked Washington College (6-7, 3-2 CC), 7-0, Tuesday afternoon in the Alumni Sports and Fitness Center.

F&M began the day winning two of the three doubles matches to put the Diplomats ahead on the scoreboard early. The pairing of Sahara Ahmad and Natalie Untermeyer defeated their opponent in the No. 2 match, 6-3, to earn their ninth win together this season. Lorena Saavedra and Amelia Squires completed the doubles' win for the Diplomats, claiming a 6-4 victory for their second win together this year.

The Diplomats continued their dominance in the singles' matches, earning wins in all six to secure the sweep on the scoreboard. Jenna Harrison outlasted her opponent in the No. 1 match to win in three sets, 6-2, 7(7)-6(3), 1(10)-0(8), for her second victory of the year. Ahmad eased past her opponent in the No. 2 match, 6-1, 6-3, to improve to eight victories this season. Untermeyer picked up her ninth win this spring as she upended her opponent in the No. 3 match, 6-2, 6-0. Mackenzie Sherman followed with a 6-2, 6-4 victory in the No. 4 match to improve to six singles' wins this year. Sophia Rhazali came from behind to win the No. 5 match as she defeated her opponent in three sets, 1-6, 6-4, 1(10)-0(7), for her ninth win of the season. Rebecca Bellick completed the shutout for the Diplomats as she blanked her opponent, 8-0, in the No. 6 match for her eighth win of the spring.

Franklin & Marshall looks to continue its winning streak when it travels to play Bryn Mawr Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
