LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 39 Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team (5-8, 1-2 CC) was defeated by No. 23 Haverford (9-2, 2-0 CC), 4-3, in Saturday afternoon's Centennial Conference (CC) match. Both teams split the singles matches with three wins to both sides. However, Haverford won two of the three doubles matches to turn away the Diplomats in the contest.
The Fords claimed wins in the No. 1 and 3 doubles matches, but F&M avoided the sweep with a victory in the No. 2 match. The duo of
Luke Brodsky and
Soren Rudin-Aulenbach outlasted their opponent, 7(7)-6(4), to pick up their ninth win together this season.
Jack Gelman overpowered his opponent in the No. 6 singles match, 7(7)-6(4), 6-1, to earn his eighth individual win of the year. Brodsky downed his opponent, 6-1, 6-4, in the No. 1 match to record his fifth singles' victory of the spring.
Zac Ashtiani came out victorious in the No. 2 match, winning 7(7)-6(4), 7(7)-6(0) for his fourth win of the season.
No. 39 Franklin & Marshall now heads to Chestertown, Maryland on Tuesday to face Washington College at 3:00 p.m.
