5/16/2025 7:43:00 PM

LANCASTER, Pa. – Justin Kolpan and Mackenzie Ward were officially announced as qualifiers to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday. Both of F&M's entrants will compete in the javelin on Thursday, May 22. Geneva, Ohio will serve as the host location of the 2025 national championship.

Justin Kolpan is the No. 8 seed in the event after placing ninth at the national meet during his rookie campaign. Coming off of his second-team All-America honors, Kolpan broke his own school record this year with his best mark of 65.47 meters further extending his own school record.

Mackenzie Ward will enter her first national championship as the No. 16 seed. She will look to become the Diplomats' first-ever All-American in the javelin on the women's side. Ward clinched her spot in the national championships by extending her own school record with a throw of 41.46 meters to win the All-Atlantic Regional Championship just two days ago.

Franklin & Marshall is one of six schools that qualified a javelin athlete for both the men and the women. The Diplomats join Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, George Fox, MIT, Rowan, and Whitworth in accomplishing this feat.
