Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 22 Men's Soccer Held Off by Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The No. 22 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (0-2) came up short in its comeback effort against Rowan (2-0), 2-1, in Sunday afternoon's non-conference match. The Profs found the back of the net in the 50th and 71st minutes of the match to take an early lead. F&M responded with a goal in the 72nd, but couldn't find the equalizer in the contest.

Neither team could gain an edge in the scoring column in the first half, but the Profs held a 6-3 advantage in shots through the first 45 minutes of play. That offensive momentum continued into the second half as Rowan's second shot of the period found the back of the cage to give the home team the lead.

Rowan scored an insurance goal in the 71st minute, but F&M came right back one minute later with a penalty kick goal from Jack Borden to cut the deficit to 2-1. The score was Borden's fifth goal at F&M.

Rowan outshot Franklin & Marshall, 17-8, in the contest. Ethan Howard, Thomas Kaplan, and Wes Wise tied for the team lead in shots with two apiece.

No. 22 Franklin & Marshall now heads to Granville, Ohio to take on Denison on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
