WASHINGTON, D.C.- The No. 16 Franklin & Marshall field hockey team (6-0) earned the team's sixth-consecutive victory of the 2025 season, dominating a 3-1 away matchup at Catholic (0-5) on Saturday. By the end of the game, F&M outshot the Cardinals 18-1.
The one shot allowed by F&M's defense is the fewest allowed in a game since two shots were allowed in 2023's 5-0 win over McDaniel.
Hannah Fitzgerald and Caitlin Hoover each tallied a goal and an assist, while Caroline Roschen converted on a penalty stroke for the second time this season.Â
In a quiet first quarter that saw just two Diplomats shots, Fitzgerald opened scoring in the tenth minute via a Caitlin Hoover assist.
The Cardinals tied things up at one-each in the 20th minute with their lone penalty corner and shot of the contest. F&M looked to reclaim the lead but were unable to go back ahead despite six shots in the second quarter.Â
Hoover found the game-winning goal midway through the third quarter with an assist from Fitzgerald, making use of a green card on Catholic. The Diplomats totaled five shots and three penalty corners in the third period.Â
Roschen completed the scoreline in the fourth quarter on a successful penalty stroke, securing the Diplomats' sixth win in a row.Â
The Diplomats continue the non-conference slate by hosting Alvernia this Wednesday, September 17, at 7:00 p.m.
