LANCASTER, Pa.- Penalty corner goals from Megan Dadio and Sophia Sarbanes, with her first-career goal, earned the No. 14 Franklin & Marshall field hockey team (6-0) a 2-0 victory over Alvernia (2-4) on Wednesday evening.
Hannah Fitzgerald and Caitlin Hoover assisted the goals. The Franklin & Marshall defense allowed five total shots, while Meghan Dole was not forced into a save in the game.
After three shots through the first ten minutes of the game, F&M drew the team's first penalty corner. Following a saved Caroline Roschen shot, Hannah Fitzgerald beat the Alvernia goalkeeper to the ball, passing the ball to the right of the keeper to Dadio for a close-range goal. From there, she dribbled in front of goal, played a through ball past multiple defenders to Sarbanes to the left of the goalkeeper. Sarbanes turned, beating her defender and the goalkeeper at the near post for her first collegiate goal. Across the first half, F&M outshot their opponents 11-2.Â
