Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Holds Off Swarthmore, 1-0

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (2-6-1, 1-1 CC) outlasted Swarthmore (3-2-3, 0-1-1 CC), 1-0, in Saturday evening's clash of Centennial Conference (CC) programs. F&M struck first in the contest and didn't look back – earning its first CC victory of the season.

In the 11th minute of the match, Michael Glennon sent a crossing pass to Thomas Kaplan in front of the Swarthmore net. Kaplan headed a shot just inside the right post to give F&M a 1-0 advantage. Kaplan tallied his third goal of the season and his third game-winning goal of his career. Meanwhile, Glennon and Jack Kelly were credited with their first assists of the year on the score.

F&M outshot Swarthmore, 11-6, in the first half. However, the Garnet came out of halftime raising the pressure on offense. Despite the surge from the home team, goalkeeper Davis Rorick stood tall in the second half with all seven of his saves coming in the final 45 minutes of play.

Swarthmore held the overall advantage in shots at 23-15. The Garnet also generated eight corner kicks and held F&M to just two in the game.

Jack Borden led the Diplomats with four shots, while Kaplan followed with three attempts in the win.

Franklin & Marshall looks to continue its momentum when it hosts Washington College on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
