Furious Comeback Leads Field Hockey Over Dickinson, 3-2

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall field hockey team took a huge step towards the Centennial Conference playoffs by scoring three unanswered goals to overcome an early 2-0 deficit at Dickinson on Saturday. The Red Devils were up 2-0 just under eight minutes into the contest, but F&M scored as the first half expired and added two more goals during the third quarter of the 3-2 final.

The Diplomats dominated the offensive statistics with a 23-7 advantage in shots and 16-7 edge in penalty corners. Even during the first period when Dickinson jumped out to the lead, it was visiting F&M that finished with a 6-3 edge in shots. Nicole Uebele opened the scoring for Dickinson before finding Gillian Rosenstock just 76 seconds later to place F&M in the early hole.

Franklin & Marshall outshot the Red Devils 17-4 during the final 45 minutes of game action. Dickinson goalie Arden Cook made five of her six saves during the second quarter, but the Diplomats were finally able to capitalize on their 11th corner attempt of the half as Caroline Bariscillo found Megan Dadio after the initial insert to score on the final play of the half. For Bariscillo, it marked the first assist of her collegiate career. Dadio has now scored six goals in the past five games.

The success on corners continued as Dadio found Caitlin Hoover directly off the insert to tie the game just 5:46 into the second half. Hoover's goal was her 17th of the season and gives her 60 for her career. Her 136th career point ties her for the school record with assistant coach Erin McCormick '20 (Coverdale).

The eventual game-winning goal shortly followed a corner as F&M was awarded a stroke. Bella Konchar has made that a specialty of hers and she kept the perfect streak alive with her sixth penalty stroke goal in as many attempts throughout her career. She is now tied for third in school history for penalty strokes converted. Konchar is the first player to go 6-for-6 in a career. Today's goal was the fourth game-winning goal of her career. Meghan Dole turned away the only two shots on goal that she faced during the final 45 minutes of action to officially secure the victory.

Heading into a crucial final week of the regular season, F&M will be at home for both of those critical contests. Up first will be a 7 p.m. start against Bryn Mawr on Wednesday, October 28. That match will also be the team's Breast Cancer Awareness Game on Tylus Field.
