LEXINGTON, Va. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (0-1) fell to No. 37 Mary Washington (1-0), 7-0, Saturday afternoon in the Diplomats' 2026 season opener. The Eagles soared through each dual match, winning all three doubles matches and six singles matches.
The Eagles controlled the doubles matches, but the duo of
Kakie Colclough and
Amelia Squires fought to the end in the No. 3 slot. The pairing made the score close, but UMW's Sophia Broomall and Jacey Copeland held off the Diplomats to secure the win.
Colclough also battled in the No. 4 singles match, winning the first set, 7-5. However, Sarah Sandoval Banuelos won the final two sets, 6-2, 6-2, to claim the match.
Rebecca Bellick fought in the second set of the No. 3 match, but Natalie Kim held off the F&M senior to pull off the victory.
Franklin & Marshall looks to bounce back next Saturday, traveling to face No. 13 Carnegie Mellon at 2:00 p.m.
