PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The No. 35 Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team (0-2) dropped a road match to No. 17 Carnegie Mellon (4-0), 7-0, in Saturday afternoon's non-conference match. The Tartans jumped out to an early lead by winning all three doubles matches. CMU later secured the win by sweeping all six singles matches.
The duo of
Nate Arnold and
Samuel Donnelly battled in the No. 2 doubles match, taking the bout to the brink. However, the tandem was held off by CMU in a 7(7)-6(1) loss.
Gonzalo Gentou (No. 5) and
Aaron Kwock (No. 6) kept pace with their opponents in the bottom two singles matches, however neither Diplomat could overtake their respective opponent. Gentou fell in his match, 6-4, 6-3, while Kwock was defeated 6-2, 7-5.
No. 35 Franklin & Marshall continued on the road on Saturday, facing TCNJ at 4:30 p.m.
