ORLANDO, Fla. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (3-5) swept past College of Saint Benedict (2-4), 7-0, Friday morning in the Diplomats' final match of its spring break trip to Florida. The Diplomats dominated the day, winning all three doubles and all six singles matches.
The tandem of
Sophia Rhazali and
Natalie Untermeyer blanked their opponents in the No. 1 match, 6-0, to record their third win together this season. The pairing of
Sahara Ahmad and
Rebecca Bellick cruised past their opponents, 6-3, in the No. 2 match to tally their fourth victory this year. The duo of
Lorena Saavedra and
Amelia Squires held off their opponents in the No. 3 match, 6-4, to improve to two wins together this spring.
Bellick defeated her opponent in the No. 3 match, 6-2, 6-3, to earn her eighth win of the season. Untermeyer eased past her opponent in the No. 1 match, 6-0, 6-3, to pull away with her fifth victory of the year.
Kakie Colclough outlasted her opponent in the No. 4 match, 6-4, 6-3, to record her fifth win of the spring. Ahmad rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 victory in the No. 2 match to pick up her fourth win of the year. Rhazali ended her day with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 5 match for her third singles' victory this season. Saavedra notched her second win of the spring as she eased past her opponent in the No. 6 match, 6-0, 6-1.
Franklin & Marshall returns to Lancaster to host No. 21 Swarthmore on Sunday, March 29 at noon.
