LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team (9-5, 3-1 CC) notched its third Centennial Conference (CC) win in a row as it swept past Muhlenberg (7-7, 0-4 CC), 7-0, in Saturday's match at Brooks Tennis Center. The win also marked the Diplomats' sixth sweep of the season. F&M honored its four seniors on Senior Day, celebrating the careers of
Zac Ashtiani,
Luke Brodsky,
Gonzalo Gentou, and
Tommy Hicks.
The pairing of Ashtiani and Brodsky blanked their opponents in the No. 1 match, 6-0, to record their ninth doubles' victory together this season.
Jack Gelman and Gentou eased their way to a 6-2 win in the No. 2 match for their first victory together this year.
Tucker Chesman and Hicks held onto a 7-5 victory in the No. 3 match to also pick up their first win together this spring.
Samuel Donnelly claimed his 12th singles' victory of the year as he won No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Ashtiani cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 2 match to improve to nine singles' victories this year. Brodsky continued his perfect day with a 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 1 match for his seventh victory of the spring. Gentou pulled away with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 5 match to earn his fifth win of the year. Gelman improved to four wins on the season as he powered past his opponent in the No. 4 match, 6-2, 6-0. Hicks kept his perfect record as he won the No. 6 match, 8-5, to move to 3-0 on the year.
Franklin & Marshall hosts Messiah on Friday in a non-conference match, starting at 4:00 p.m.
