LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (5-7, 2-2 CC) tallied its second-consecutive Centennial Conference (CC) win Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 victory over Muhlenberg (8-6, 0-5 CC) at Brooks Tennis Center. The victory also marked the Diplomats' fourth sweep of the year.
The tandem of
Sahara Ahmad and
Rebecca Bellick raced past their opponents in the No. 1 doubles match, 6-2, to earn their seventh victory together this spring.
Lorena Saavedra and
Amelia Squires eased their way to a 6-0 shutout in the No. 3 match for their fourth win of the season.
Kakie Colclough and
Natalie Untermeyer also blanked their opponents, 6-0, in the No. 2 match for their first win together this year.
Bellick moved to double-digit singles' wins on the season as she defeated her opponent in the No. 2 match, 6-2, 6-0, for her 10th win of the year. Untermeyer took control of the No. 1 match as she won, 6-0, 6-0, for her seventh victory of the spring. Colclough also notched her seventh victory of the season as she won the No. 3 match, 6-1, 6-3. Saavedra (No. 4) and Squires (No. 5) both won their respective matches, 6-0, 6-0, as both Diplomats improved to four wins on the year.
Erin Joo denied her opponent, 6-1, 6-0, in the No. 6 match to maintain her perfect 3-0 record so far this season.
Franklin & Marshall hits the road to take on Bucknell on Sunday, starting at 1:00 p.m.
