LANCASTER, Pa. – For the third time in her career, Sara DiGiovanni has been recognized as the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The senior captain anchored a strong defensive effort in the 13-7 conference win against Dickinson to win the award for the first time this season. She had previously been named the CC Defensive Player of the Year twice a season ago.
During the win against the Red Devils, DiGiovanni posted a 66.7% save percentage in F&M's only action of the week. She senior made 14 saves and collected three additional ground balls around the crease during her 60 minutes of game action.
A first-team All-Centennial Conference goalie a season ago, DiGiovanni was also named the Centennial Conference Tournament MVP when the Diplomats won their third consecutive Centennial Conference Championship last spring. DiGiovanni has started all 12 games this season for the Diplomats and has been the goalie of record during each of the team's wins while stopping over 45 percent of the shots that she faced.
Women's lacrosse will at home twice this week. Up first will be a date against McDaniel at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in the team's Mental Health Awareness Game. The Diplomats will be back at home on Saturday versus Washington College for Senior Day and the Pack the Dip Zone promotion.
