LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (7-8, 4-2 CC) claimed a 7-0 victory over Bryn Mawr (9-8, 2-4 CC) in Saturday's Centennial Conference (CC) matchup. The Diplomats won two doubles matches, before earning six victories in singles. F&M also celebrated
Rebecca Bellick and
Amelia Squires on Senior Day.
The duo of
Sahara Ahmad and Bellick blanked their opponents in No. 1 doubles, 6-0, for their ninth win together this season. The pairing of
Sophia Rhazali and
Natalie Untermeyer eased their way to a 6-2 victory in No. 2 doubles for their sixth win together this spring.
Untermeyer raced past her opponent in No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-3, to pick up her eighth win of the year. Ahmad followed with a 7-6, 7-4 win in the No. 2 match to claim her sixth victory this season. Bellick cruised past her opponent in the No. 3 match, 6-1, 6-0, to earn her 12th singles' victory of the spring.
Kakie Colclough blanked her opponent in the No. 4 match, 6-0, 6-0, for her eighth win of the season. Rhazali recorded her sixth win of the year as she overpowered her opponent in the No. 5 match, 6-1, 6-1. Squires ended her Senior Day by claiming a 6-4, 6-2 win in No. 6 singles for her fifth victory this spring.
Franklin & Marshall now hits the road to take on No. 5 Johns Hopkins on Sunday, starting at 11:00 a.m.
