HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 33 Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team (11-6, 4-2 CC) came up short in a 4-3 loss at Haverford (9-11, 6-1 CC) in Friday afternoon's Centennial Conference (CC) match. The Diplomats took an early lead with a win in doubles, but the Fords earned four victories in singles to take the team-win.
Zac Ashtiani and
Luke Brodsky extended their winning streak to five as they won No. 1 doubles, 6-3, for their 12th victory this season.
Gonzalo Gentou and
Soren Rudin-Aulenbach tallied a 6-4 victory in the No. 2 match to earn their 10th win together this year, while also pushing their winning streak to six.
Samuel Donnelly outlasted his opponent in No. 3 singles, 7-5, 2-6, 1(12)-0(10), to record his team-leading 15th victory this spring.
Nate Arnold followed with a 6-4, 6-3 victory in the No. 6 match for his seventh win of the year. Despite the early F&M lead, Haverford rallied to take the lead late and secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CC tournament. The Diplomats and Fords will square off again in the semifinals of the conference tournament on Friday, May 1 with a start time yet to be determined.
No. 33 Franklin & Marshall wraps up the regular season on Sunday, traveling to play Ursinus at 1:00 p.m.
