COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The No. 33 Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team (12-6, 5-2 CC) ended the regular season with a 6-1 win over Ursinus (10-8, 2-5 CC) in Sunday afternoon's Centennial Conference (CC) match. The Diplomats swept through the doubles matches, before claiming five wins in singles to take the team-victory.
The pairing of
Zac Ashtiani and
Luke Brodsky recorded their 13th win of the season as the duo won No. 1 doubles, 6-1.
Gonzalo Gentou and
Soren Rudin-Aulenbach followed with a 6-1 victory in No. 2 doubles for their 11 win this spring. The tandem of
Nate Arnold and
Tucker Chesman completed the sweep in doubles with a 6-4 victory in the No. 3 match for their third win together this year.
Ashtiani recorded a win in straight-sets, 6-4, 7-5, in No. 1 singles to improve to 10 wins this season.
Samuel Donnelly followed with a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the No. 2 match for his 16th win this year. Rudin-Aulenbach (No. 3) and Gentou (No. 4) both earned their eighth win of the season. Rudin-Aulenbach downed his opponent, 6-4, 6-2, while Gentou eased his way to a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Alonso closed the day for the Diplomats, earning a 6-2, 6-0 win in No. 5 singles for his seventh win of the year.
No. 33 Franklin & Marshall has clinched the No. 3 seed in the CC Tournament, traveling to face No. 43 Haverford on Friday. The start time for the match has yet to be determined.
