Box Score HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 40 Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team (12-7, 5-2 CC) was denied by No. 42 Haverford (10-12, 6-1 CC), 4-1, in the semifinal round of the Centennial Conference (CC) Tournament Friday afternoon. The Diplomats jumped ahead with a point in doubles, but the Fords answered with four wins in singles to advance to the CC Championship on Sunday.

The duo of Zac Ashtiani and Luke Brodsky showed why they are the No. 8 ranked doubles pairing in the region, easing past their opponents, 6-3, in the No. 1 match for their 14th victory together this season. Nate Arnold and Tucker Chesman rallied in No. 3 doubles, defeating their opponents, 7(7)-6(4) for their fourth win together this year. The pairing of Gonzalo Gentou and Soren Rudin-Aulenbach tried to complete the sweep in doubles, but fell short in a 6-3 loss.

Haverford found its stride in singles, downing the Diplomats in straight-sets during the first two matches. The Fords claimed a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the No. 1 match, before notching a 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 2 match. Gentou battled in the No. 5 match, forcing three sets. However, his opponent won the final set, 6-4 to take the match. Haverford then earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the No. 4 match to complete the team victory.

Franklin & Marshall now waits to see if its season continues into the NCAA Tournament as selections release next week. The NCAA Selection Show airs on Monday, May 4 at 12:30 p.m. on NCAA.com.
