COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (9-8, 6-2 CC) dominated its final match of the regular season as it earned a 7-0 sweep over Ursinus (7-11, 1-7 CC) in Sunday afternoon's Centennial Conference (CC) matchup. The Diplomats won all three doubles matches and six singles bouts to record their sixth sweep this season.
The pairing of
Sahara Ahmad and
Rebecca Bellick notched a 6-2 win in No. 1 doubles to pick up their 11th win together this year.
Sophia Rhazali and
Natalie Untermeyer overpowered their opponents, 6-4, in the No. 2 match for their eighth victory together this spring.
Kakie Colclough and
Sarah Miller finished off the sweep in doubles with a 6-1 victory in the No. 3 match for their first win together this season.
Untermeyer eased past her opponent in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2, to claim her ninth singles' win of the year. Ahmad followed with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 match to earn her eight win of the spring. Bellick ended her great regular season stretch with a 6-0, 6-1 win in No. 3 singles for her 14th victory of the season. Colclough recorded a 6-0, 6-3 victory in No. 4 singles to reach double-digit wins with her 10th of the year. Rhazali claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 5 match to notch her eighth singles' victory of the spring. Miller tallied her first win of the season as she rallied past her opponent, 6-3, 6-4, in the No. 6 match.
Franklin & Marshall has clinched the No. 3 seed in the CC Tournament, traveling to face No. 36 Haverford on Thursday. The start time for the match has yet to be determined.
