VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (3-7, 0-2 CC) was defeated by Haverford (5-5, 2-1 CC), 6-1, in Friday afternoon's Centennial Conference (CC) match. The Fords jumped ahead early and didn't look back as the hosts won two doubles matches and five singles matches on the day.
The pairing of
Sahara Ahmad and
Rebecca Bellick notched a doubles' victory in the No. 2 match, 6-3, for their fifth win together this season. Despite the momentum, the Diplomats fell short in the No. 1 and No. 3 matches to face an early deficit.
Sophia Rhazali got F&M on the scoreboard with a victory in the No. 5 match for her fourth singles' win this year. Rhazali rallied past her opponent, 6-3, 7(10)-6(8), to earn the match-victory. Bellick battled in the No. 3 match as she won the first set, 6-4. However, her opponent won the final two sets to take the match.
Kakie Colclough also fought to the end of the No. 4 match, but came up just short in a 6-4, 7(7)-6(5) loss.
Franklin & Marshall now turns its attention to a road match against Gettysburg on Monday, starting at 4:00 p.m.
