GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team (4-7, 1-2 CC) notched its first Centennial Conference (CC) win of the season with a 6-1 victory over Gettysburg (5-6, 0-3 CC) Monday afternoon. The Diplomats surged early and didn't look back, winning two doubles matches and five singles matches during the day.
The Bullets claimed a win in the No. 1 doubles match, but the Diplomats responded with back-to-back victories. The duo of
Sahara Ahmad and
Rebecca Bellick downed their opponents, 6-2, in the No. 2 match to pick up their sixth win together this year. The pairing of
Lorena Saavedra and
Amelia Squires tallied a 6-3 victory in the No. 3 match for their third win together this spring.
Bellick continued her success into the singles match, earning a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 3 match for her ninth singles' win of the year.
Natalie Untermeyer overpowered her opponent in the No. 1 match, 7-5, 6-3, for her sixth victory of the season.
Kakie Colclough also recorded her sixth win of the spring as she defeated her opponent in the No. 4 match, 6-1, 7(8)-6(6). Saavedra rolled through the No. 5 match in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, to notch her third victory of the year.
Erin Joo wrapped up the Diplomats' win with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the No. 6 match to improve to 2-0 in singles this season.
Franklin & Marshall plays host to Muhlenberg on Saturday, starting at 1:00 p.m.
