LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 41 Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team (8-5, 2-1 CC) eased past No. 49 Washington College (8-7, 3-2 CC), 6-1, in Wednesday afternoon's Centennial Conference (CC) match at Brooks Tennis Center. The Diplomats won two doubles' matches and five singles' matches to earn its first victory at home this season.
The tandem of
Zac Ashtiani and
Luke Brodsky got the day started with a dominant 6-0 win in No. 1 doubles to pick up their eighth win together this year. The duo of
Nate Arnold and
Hugh Outwater powered past their opponents, 6-3, in the No. 3 match for their first victory together this spring.
Brodsky continued his big day by winning No. 1 singles, 7(7)-6(2), 6-4, for his sixth singles' victory this season.
Samuel Donnelly cruised to a 6-3, 6-4 victory in No. 3 singles to improve to a team-leading 11th win this spring.
Ian Alonso kept his perfect singles' record intact as he won the No. 6 match to move to 5-0 on the year. Arnold also recorded his fifth win this season as he came out on top of the No. 5 match, 6-4, 6-1.
Jack Gelman rounded out the Diplomats with a three-set victory in the No. 4 match. After falling in the first set, 6-2, Gelman won the final two sets, 6-2, 6-3, to claim his third victory of the season.
Franklin & Marshall continues its homestand, hosting Muhlenberg on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
