GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Friday was for the field events for the Franklin & Marshall men's track & field team at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships. The Diplomats had three scoring performances in the hammer throw – and a top 10 finish from Greg Bruno in the pole vault – as they finished with 11 points and are currently fifth in the team standings.
Benjamin Ford took home honorable mention All-Centennial Conference honors as he placed third in the hammer with a personal-best mark of 48.40 meters. Ford moved all the way up to second in the school record books as he hit a five-plus meter PR. Dustin Stoetzel (45.46m) and Ben Ostroski (43.63m) were sixth and seventh, respectively, in the field as both finished in scoring positions. Ostroski also hit a personal best and now ranks seventh all-time in school history. James Martin also competed in the hammer, marking 30.74 meters to place 16th.
Other action in the field events saw Greg Bruno clear 3.35 meters in pole vault during an eventual 10th place finish. Bruno's height Friday was his best mark of the season.
Day two of the Centennial Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships is set for Saturday as the Championship meet continues through Sunday's awards ceremony.
