LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team had five players recognized on the All-Centennial Conference (CC) team, as announced by the conference office Friday morning.
For the third-consecutive season,
Luke Brodsky was tabbed a first team All-Centennial Conference selection. Brodsky tallied eight wins with three victories in conference play, competing primarily in No. 1 singles. The senior was also ranked as high as No. 15 in the Atlantic South Region for singles during the year.
Zac Ashtiani was named a second team All-CC honoree for the second-straight year. Ashtiani registered earned 10 wins with three victories against CC opponents, primarily playing in the No. 2 match. The senior had his biggest victory of the season come against Johns Hopkins in early-April, defeating the No. 48 singles player in the nation, 6-4, 2-6, 1(12)-0(10).
The duo of Ashtiani and Brodsky were tabbed first team All-Centennial for the first time in their respective careers. The pairing has a 14-5 record together this season, earning a perfect 7-0 record against Centennial Conference opponents. Ashtiani and Brodsky are 9-1 in their last 10 matches and are on a seven-match winning streak. The pairing sits at No. 3 in Region III in the NCAA regional rankings, while also being ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic South region. Ashtiani and Brodsky were recently selected as the sixth alternate for the 16-team doubles draw at the upcoming NCAA Men's Tennis Championship.
Samuel Donnelly landed second team all-conference honors in singles after notching a team-high 16 wins, primarily playing in No. 3 singles this season. Donnelly claimed six wins in CC play, ending the season on a six-match winning streak. The junior has one win playing No. 1 singles this spring, defeating his opponent from Messiah, 6-4, 6-3, in mid-April.
The pairing of
Gonzalo Gentou and
Soren Rudin-Aulenbach were named second team All-Centennial after recording an 11-2 record, playing in both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The duo went 5-0 against CC opponents this spring. Gentou and Rudin-Aulenbach also ended the year 8-2 in its final 10 matches.
Gentou was selected to represent Franklin & Marshall on the All-Sportsmanship Team for the third time in his career. In addition to his great doubles play, Gentou went 8-3 in singles with a perfect 3-0 record against Centennial opponents.
Franklin & Marshall earned a 12-7 overall record with a 5-2 record in conference play, making an appearance in the CC Tournament semifinals. The Diplomats also reached as high as No. 33 in the national rankings.
