Men's Tennis Earns ITA Academic Honors

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's tennis team was recognized for its excellence in the classroom as seven members were named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Scholar-Athletes. Additionally, the men's tennis team received the ITA All-Academic Team Award.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 during the past academic year. ITA All-Academic Team status is granted to programs that have a maintained a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.2 or above during the academic year.The seven student-athletes that were named ITA Scholar-Athletes include Nate Arnold, Zac Ashtiani, Samuel Donnelly, Gonzalo Gentou, Campbell Gervais, Tommy Hicks, and Hugh Outwater.

Arnold was selected as an ITA scholar-athlete after a solid rookie campaign. Arnold earned seven wins in singles with a perfect 3-0 record against Centennial Conference (CC) opponents. The first-year also claimed 11 victories in doubles with three wins against CC foes.

Ashtiani was named an ITA scholar-athlete for the fourth time in his career. During the 2026 season, Ashtiani earned second team All-Centennial Conference honors for singles, while also being named an All-CC honoree for doubles. Ashtiani registered earned 10 wins with three victories against CC opponents, primarily playing in the No. 2 match. In doubles, Ashtiani earned 15 wins and was 7-0 in conference play while competing in the No. 1 match.

Donnelly was recognized as an ITA scholar-athlete in the same season he was named a second team all-conference honors in singles. Donnelly tallied a team-high 16 wins, primarily playing in No. 3 singles this season. Donnelly claimed six wins in CC play, ending the season on a six-match winning streak. The junior has one win playing No. 1 singles this spring, defeating his opponent from Messiah, 6-4, 6-3, in mid-April.

Gentou finished his senior season being tabbed an ITA scholar-athlete for the fourth-straight year. Gentou claimed second team All-CC honors in doubles, recording 13 wins with six victories in CC play. Gentou also earned an 8-3 record in singles with a perfect 3-0 record against Centennial opponents this year.

Gervais earned ITA scholar-athlete recognition for the second-consecutive year. Gervais recorded two wins in No. 5 singles and one victory in No. 2 doubles this season.

Hicks finished his collegiate career being named an ITA scholar-athlete all four years. Hicks ended the 2026 campaign with a perfect 3-0 record in singles, including a victory over Muhlenberg. The Dover, Massachusetts native also went 4-0 in doubles, highlighted by a victory in the No. 3 match against the Mules.

Outwater concluded his rookie season with three wins in singles, including a victory in the No. 6 match against Gettysburg. Outwater also won four matches in doubles with a big 6-3 victory in the No. 3 match against Washington College.
